Meet Caitlin (she/her)

Currently accepting new clients!

Hi! I'm Caitlin.  Life can be an absolute shit show sometimes. There are no reasons for many things we experience. Sometimes life leaves us feeling like it's all too much. You deserve not only relief from that, but also the space to thrive. I can help guide and walk with you through the thick of it. My therapeutic style is grounded in being empathetic, compassionate, and nonjudgemental. I work with clients collaboratively, creating a plan together based on your individual goals, issues, and wants.

One of the most important parts of therapy is having a safe space where you feel comfortable. Please reach out with any questions and we can determine if we are a good fit.

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and  releasing core neurophysiological sources of negative experience, emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with Biolateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing. This model of therapy is well known for its fast results and positive outcomes.

This theory suggests that the brain can heal itself from inside. It aims to stimulate the brain’s healing ability by evoking and releasing the negative emotions and experiences that have been stored in it. It does this by identifying an eye position that triggers and releases these emotions.

Brainspotting works with the deep brain and the body through its direct access to the autonomic and limbic systems within the body’s central nervous system. Brainspotting is a physiological tool/treatment which has profound psychological, emotional, and physical results; that we can utilize within the clinical relationship, to neurobiologically locate, focus, process, and release experiences and symptoms that are typically out of reach of the conscious mind and its cognitive and language capacity. This helps the therapists to assess an individual’s emotions on a much deeper level and evaluate the psychological effects of a traumatic experience on an individual; it can also be used to treat symptoms, such as low motivation, poor concentration, stress, and certain emotional disturbances.

Out of Network Benefits

Use this form to ask your insurance Company about if you have out of network benefits and get more details about your plan. Insurance often reimburses you a portion/all out of pocket costs directly after you pay for therapy. I provide a superbill (therapy receipt) that you submit to your insurance company so they can reimburse you.

Why Private Pay

mental_health_counselor

Privacy

When using insurance, their employees (clinicans or not) can access a host of your information, randomly audit it, and track your progress. By not involving your insurance company your private personal information stays between you and me. I'm the only person who has access to it except under specific circumstances which are outlined in the intake paperwork and discussed in our first session.

Protection

Insurance requires a diagnosis the first session you attend therapy, which goes against our ethics to rush one for insurance to cover therapy. Unfortunately, there are certain diagnoses that can result in being denied/have issues obtaining life insurance, health insurance, and qualifying for certain careers.

Control

Insurance companies often authorize a limited number of sessions for therapy that can be discontinued for a variety of reasons. With private pay therapy, you have the control to determine both your duration and frequency of therapy.

Assumption of Illness

Insurance companies practice using the medical model, which requires a "medically necessary" diagnosis to seek counseling services. Most insurance companies do not cover relationship issues, couples counseling, self-improvement and many other things that people benefit from therapy with.
